Wondering about spring family fun at Arroyo Vista? The election of next year's officers? How the next round of budget cuts will affect the programs AVPTA supports? Don't miss the March 17th PTA meeting, this coming Wednesday at 8:30 am in the Elementary MPR. Vote in the election of next year's PTA Board of Directors, have a say in what programs the PTA supports next year, learn about the great activities being planned for the coming months, including the Jog-A-Thon and Teacher Appreciation Week, and get the first look at new Arroyo Vista Spirit Wear. Don't miss out on your chance to learn about all of the important activities going on at Arroyo Vista in the coming months!
The elementary class with the most parents in attendance will get our mascot Spirit in their classroom, while three middle-schoolers with parents in attendance will earn three front-of-the-line lunch passes. Yes, that’s three for three. Finally, three members in attendance will win a chance to assist Mr. Brooks in leading the Pledge of Allegiance and school announcements! Look forward to seeing you there.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS VITAL! Especially this year.
PTA advocates for our children at the STATE level. We have saved Millions $ in budget cuts by being a strong voice for our children.
OUR very own AV PTA funds over $40,000 in programs at our school. We can’t do it without you. PLEASE, consider membership, it means A LOT!

Arroyo Vista Wins
2nd Distinguished School Honor
The Arroyo Vista PTA congratulates the students, teachers, staff and administrators of Arroyo Vista Middle School, which has been recognized by the State of California with the prestigious California Distinguished School Award for 2008-2009! The criteria are rigorous and a site visit by the State’s Distinguished School team validated Arroyo Vista’s application on Signature Practices in Education. This is Arroyo Vista’s second Distinguished School Award—Arroyo Vista Elementary earned the award in 2004—and is an example of excellence in education. We are so proud of our school—Arroyo Vista K-8 is an amazing place to learn.

Next Collection Tuesday, Mar. 9th
We collected 571 pounds of food and donated it to the Orange County Rescue Mission last Tuesday. Thank you for your continued support of Care-and-Share. Our next collection is scheduled for March 9th. Please continue to support this program as there are many families in need at this time.
Update on our November Caring Boxes: Over 100 of our Caring Boxes were shipped to Haiti! It was an unexpected detour. Thanks for Caring!
