CARE N SHARE
A PTA PROGRAM AT ARROYO VISTA SCHOOL
Care N Share is a PTA program at Arroyo Vista School that almost 20 years ago. At designated times, our students and their families voluntarily bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries to be donated to people who are in need of food in Orange County. Orange County is one of the most affluent in the country, yet we have many families who are not able to provide three meals a day for their children. It is estimated that there are approximately 35,000 homeless people in Orange County, and 70% of these people are families with children. Each year we collect thousands of food and toiletry items. Not only are we helping our community, we are providing an opportunity for our students to be aware of the needs of others and giving them a chance to make a difference.
The Care N Share program is facilitated by a volunteer group of parents from Arroyo Vista who designate collection dates at the beginning of the school year.
On collection days, the parent volunteers gather donations from Middle School students and from Elementary School classrooms. Parent volunteers and student helpers sort the food . All items are donated to "The Fellowship in Business" Food Bank right here in RSM at The Bridge Church.
Our goal with the Care N Share at Arroyo Vista is to continue to increase the awareness of the needs of our neighbors in our county. We are proud to provide a service opportunity for our students and helping those in need in our community.
