CARE N SHARE
A PTA PROGRAM AT ARROYO VISTA SCHOOL
Program Overview

Care N Share is a PTA program at Arroyo Vista School that started almost 20 years ago. During the Care N Share collections, students and their families bring in non-perishable food items and toiletries to be donated to people in need in South Orange County. We are proud to partner with RSM Cares Food Bank and support their efforts to help as many people and families as possible each month. Over the last three years, weve been able to consistently donate over 10,000 items per year to the food bank, thanks to the generosity of our Arroyo Vista students and families.

Orange County is one of the most affluent areas in the country, yet in our own neighborhoods we have many families who are not able to provide the basic three meals a day for their children. It is estimated that there are approximately 35,000 homeless people in Orange County, and 70% of these people are families with children. Not only are we helping our community, we are providing an opportunity for our students to be aware of the needs of others and giving them a chance to make a difference.

The Care N Share program is facilitated by a volunteer group of parents from Arroyo Vista who designate collection dates, promote, collect, sort, and deliver the items to the food bank.

Our main goal with the Care N Share at Arroyo Vista is to continue to increase the awareness of the needs of our neighbors in our county. We are proud to provide a service opportunity for our students and help those in need in our community.
